My Summer Detox

Summer has been packed with backyard BBQs, vacations, waterparks, long warm days and late nights. As much as I love summer and all the adventure it brings, it also throws me out of routine and structure.

Now that school is just around the corner I wanted to check back in with my body and health and really pay attention to what I was eating, drinking, how much sleep I got each night and was I reaching my exercise goals each week. 

Shelby McCalla, one of our wonderfully talented and educated Pilates instructors, brought me a 7-day Cleanse by Arbonne, so it was a great opportunity to jump start my Summer Detox! Each day I would make my 32oz of warm Lemon and Ginger water body cleanse and drink it through out the day. Today is the last day of my Arbonne cleanse and I have to say I am going to miss my special drink concoction.  Through-out the 7 days I still ate frequently, but tried to eat as natural and raw as I could. On day 6, I had a few bites of cake (I normally don't eat much processed sugar or artificial sugars) and a spinach pasta dish for dinner.  This is where I really noticed the difference. The sugar instantly made me feel sick and the pasta made me feel so full after just a few bites. It's amazing how much food can affect our body and how it functions. The cleanse has definitely helped me with cravings and makes my body aware of foods that are/and are not nutrient rich and healthy.

I'm looking forward to the start of the Fall semester and I'm ready to keep my mind. body and soul strong, healthy and energized!
